- Sargent Cup Senior Hurling League
De La Salle 2-25 Tallow 0-22
Our understrength senior hurlers had a good win over Tallow in the Sargent Cup in Gracedieu last Saturday night in a high scoring game. Features of the game were a point scoring exhibition, with Dean Twomey in particular prominent, and the return to action after injury of Tom Moran.
We led 1-15 to 0-11 at half time with Lee Hayes kicking to the net after John Mullane’s effort was saved by the goalkeeper. The second half was more of the same with Jamie Sage marking his return with an excellent goal ten minutes from the end.
Scorers: Dean Twomey 0-11 (0-8 frees), Jamie Sage 1-1, Brian Cunningham 0-3, Lee Hayes 1-0, Eoin Casey, John Keane and Bryan Phelan 0-2 each, Thomas Kearney, Adam O’Sullivan, Colm Morris and John Mullane 0-1 each.
Panel: John Coady, Tom Moran, Ian Flynn, David Sutton, Adam O’Sullivan, Jack Kennedy, Bryan Phelan, Colm Morris, Lee Hayes, Thomas Kearney, Dean Twomey, John Keane, Eoin Casey, John Mullane, Brian Cunningham, Jamie Sage, Kyle Sinnott.- U-11 A Hurling
De La Salle 5-3 Mount Sion 3-7
Great win by our U-11 side against a very good Mount Sion team in Gracedieu last Wednesday. This was an excellent game throughout and overall a great team performance. We raced into an early lead in the first half with some well taken goals, but Mount Sion slowly clawed back the lead and went in front towards the end of the game. Credit to the lads for going to the end, and our patience bore fruit when from a sideline cut, Alex Keane flicked the ball to the net to claim the win.Scorers: Darragh Crowe 3-1, Alex Keane 1-2, Conor O’Shea 1-0
Panel: Daire Treacy, Cormac Dawson, Glen Buckley, Josh Duggan, Dylan Stickle, Josh Kelly, Alex Maguire, Alex Keane, Lee Cleary, Darragh Crowe, Robbie Deveraux, Kieran O’ Sullivan, Conor O’Shea, Shane Keenan.

- U-14 Hurling
Our U-14s played two rounds of the Division One County Championship in the past week. On Monday, we hosted Mount Sion at Gracedieu. A strong wind blowing up the pitch made this the proverbial game of two halves. Mount Sion started with the wind and led 1-4 to 0-3 at half time. We played with a much stronger wind in the second half and ran out victorious 3-8 to 1-5.
On Wednesday, we played against Abbeyside at their ground in what turned out to be a very entertaining game of hurling. We led 2-3 to 1-2 at half time. However, Abbeyside stormed back in the second half and both sides exchanged a number of good scores. Abbeyside led by four with a couple of minutes remaining, however we reduced the deficit to a minimum with a good goal. But Abbeyside responded with a very good point to win on a score of 4-8 to 4-6. We would like to thank Abbeyside for playing the game on Wednesday to facilitate our Féile quiz night on the Thursday night.
- U-12 Hurling
Our under 12s continue their progress in Division 2 of the City League with a fine win over Portlaw in Gracedieu on Friday last. This preserves this team’s unbeaten record in the City League to date.
- U-11 Hurling
Mooncoin 2-11 De La Salle 3-6
On Wednesday last we suffered a narrow 2 point defeat to Mooncoin in Gracedieu. We had a couple of goal chances at the end to win it but unfortunately none were converted. Lining out without the services of Josh Kelly, we battled hard and at half time led by 8 points. Mooncoin however went on a scoring spree at the start of the second half but at the end there was only 2 points in it. This was a good team effort from all the lads. Keep it up. Next match vs Mount Sion in Gracedieu Friday 20th June 6.30pm.
Scorers: D. Crowe 2-1, C. O’ Shea 1-2, C. Dawson 0-2, A. Keane 0-1.
- Munster Senior Football Replay
Commiserations to Oran Keevers who was part of the Waterford side who went down to Clare last Saturday night. On a disappointing night for the footballers, who were not helped by what appeared to be a wrong call by Maurice Deegan to black card Shane Aherne in the first minute, Oran provided one of the few highlights with a tremendous goal line save in the first half.

- East U-14 Hurling Championship Final
De La Salle 4-3 Ballygunner 2-4
Well done to our U-14 hurlers who defeated a gallant Ballygunner side to capture the Eastern title in Walsh Park on Saturday last. The first half of this game was a tense affair with both sides spurning their scoring opportunities. Ballygunner opened the scoring with a point and we responded with a well taken goal. Ballygunner tagged on a point and at this juncture both sides missed a number of scoring opportunities. Both sides goaled before half time to leave the minimum between the sides at the break 2-0 to 1-2. There was a big improvement in the quality of the hurling in the second half as both sides contributed to an excellent game. Ballygunner quickly levelled and we responded with our third goal. Ballygunner levelled with a goal of their own and both sides exchanged points to leave the sides level 3- 1 to 2-4. At this juncture we began to exert more control on the game and went a point ahead and quickly followed that with our fourth goal. We tagged on another point to ensure victory.
Whereas the club were winning this trophy for the fourth year in a row it was the first ever hurling success for this group of players and there were scenes of delight afterwards when team captain Seaghan Walsh accepted the cup from Eastern board chairman Jim Murphy. Commisserations also to an excellent Ballygunner side. This completes an Eastern double for this hard working team.
Scorers: Aidan Gannon 1-3, Daniel Casey, Dylan Finn and Kevin Hennessy 1-0 each.Panel: Liam Coad, Kalem Walsh, Lorcan Dwyer, Tom O’Donnell, Dean Casey, Sam Flynn, James Cotter, Seán Connolly, Kevin Hennessy, Dylan Finn, Joshua Campus, Daniel Casey, Ethan O’Halloran, Seághan Walsh (captain), Aidan Gannon, Shane O’Neill, Colm Maher, Kieran O’Loughlin, Niall O’Keeffe, Eamonn Brosnan, Nathan Finn, Craig O’Brien, Rueben O’Halloran.
- Phelan Cup County Senior Football League
St. Saviours 1-11 De La Salle 0-9
A poor last thirteen minutes of the first half in which we were outscored 1-5 to 0-0 decided this Phelan cup match in Ballybeg last Thursday night. This was another hard fought game but with St. Saviours being closer to full strength they were always that bit sharper throughout as we struggled for scores and their win was well deserved.
The first five minutes saw both teams point with ours coming from an Ian Cantwell free. St. Saviours pointed in the seventh and fifteenth minutes before Ian Cantwell pointed another free in the 17th minute. St. Saviours pointed a minute later and direct from the kickout they goaled. They added four further points to lead 1-8 to 0-2 at the interval.
The third quarter was even with Lee Hayes and Ian Cantwell exchanging points with our opponents to leave it 1-10 to 0-4 after seventeen minutes. We were seeing more of the ball in the second half and though we struggled to score from play, St. Saviours’ tendancy to concede frees saw Ian Cantwell point four in a row to make it 1-10 to 0-8 with four minutes left. St. Saviours steadied things with a point before Colm Clancy came upfield to end the scoring with a fine point.
Scorers: Ian Cantwell 0-7 (frees), Lee Hayes and Colm Clancy 0-1 each.
Panel: David Dennison, Martin Sheehan, Colm Clancy, Ronan O’Sullivan, David Greene, Thomas Kearney, David Kennedy, Ian Cantwell, Stephen Walsh, Paudie Nevin, Mitchell Casey, Kenneth Byrne, Patrick Flynn, Lee Hayes, Patrick Kennedy, Joey Twomey, Adam Deegan, James Grogan.- Munster Championships
Well done to Oran Keevers who made his debut in the Munster senior football championship last Saturday as part of a Waterford side who earned a home replay with Clare next weekend. Commiserations to Derek McGrath, Kevin Moran, Jake Dillon and Shane McNulty on their disappointing exit from the Munster senior hurling championship last Sunday. Commiserations also to team captain Mitchell Casey, Ian Cantwell and Thomas Kearney on Waterford’s unlucky exit from the Munster junior football championship last Saturday.

- County U-14 Football Final
Ballinacourty 3-5 De La Salle 3-2Our U-14 footballers were beaten by Ballinacourty in a pulsating final at Walsh Park on Saturday last. This was an excellent and intense game played by two fine sides. We started well and scored the first point. However Ballinacourty equalised and then scored an excellent goal and a point. We replied with an equally good goal and trailed by a point at half time. The second half was a thrilling affair. We goaled early and followed with a point. Ballinacourty fought back well with some fine points and two goals to lead by 6 points. We goaled again to set up a grandstand finish. We pushed strongly for the equaliser but were unable to bridge the gap. This was an excellent effort by our lads and capped a fine year for our team in which they have won the eastern championship and qualified for the national Peil na nÓg. Congratulations to Ballinacourty on their fine victory.Panel: Daniel Casey, Rueben O’Halloran, Joshua Campus, Ethan O’Halloran, Sam Flynn, Dylan Finn (captain), Kalem Walsh, Kevin Hennessy, Seán Connolly, Liam Coad, Lorcan Dwyer, Kelvin Daniels, Niall O’Keeffe, Seághan Walsh, James Cotter, Aidan Gannon, Eamonn Brosnan, Kieran O’Loughlin, Brian Burke, Tom O’Donnell, Colm Maher.- City League U-11 A Hurling

- Sargent Cup Senior Hurling League
Dungarvan 3-15 De La Salle 1-18
A last quarter fightback by our understrength senior hurlers came up short in Dungarvan last Friday night. Fielding only six of the team that started our two championship games we found ourselves trailing by eleven points at one stage in the second half. The introduction of Eddie Meaney and the switch of John Mullane to full forward saw us reduce the arrears to three points and it took a fine save by the Dungarvan keeper from Eddie Meaney in the last minute to deny us a share of the points.
The first half saw us struggle and we conceded a goal inside the first minute. We were trailing by a point when Dungarvan got their second goal in the 19th minute from a free and they went on to lead 2-7 to 0-7 at the interval. The highlight of the first half from our point of view was the continued good showing from minor Brian Cunningham.
The first ten minutes of the second half saw us continue to play second fiddle and when Dungarvan got their third goal in the 10th minute from a penalty we were 3-10 to 0-8 in arrears. It was 3-12 to 0-11 after fifteen minutes but we then struck four points in a row. Dungarvan pointed before some fine work by Paudie Nevin set up a goal for John Mullane with seven minutes left. Late points from John Mullane (2) and Dean Twomey reduced the gap to three points before the Dungarvan keeper made what was his second excellent save in the second half to ensure their win.
Scorers: John Mullane 1-6 (0-3 frees), Brian Cunningham 0-6 (0-4 frees), Colm Morris 0-2, David Greene, Paudie Nevin, John Keane and Dean Twomey 0-1 each.
Panel: Stevie Brenner, Adam Doyle, Ian Flynn, David Sutton, Martin Sheehan, Jack Kennedy, Patrick Kennedy, John Keane, Dean Twomey, Paudie Nevin, David Greene, John Mullane, Colm Morris, Thomas Kearney, Brian Cunningham, Eddie Meaney, Conor O’Toole, John Coady, Conan Watt.
- County Junior Football ‘Senior Attached’ Championship
De La Salle 4-6 St. Saviours 1-7
We played our first game in the newly created county junior football championship for senior attached teams in Ballybeg last Monday and came away with a hard fought victory. The scoreline is somewhat misleading in that it was an even enough contest in which we took our goal chances and St. Saviours found last year’s player of the year Eamonn Dalton in outstanding form in goal. A positive for us on the night was that five minors saw action who all acquited themselves well and in total we had eight players who were 22 or younger playing.
Two early frees by Joey Twomey were followed by a goal from Eoin Casey after good work by David Breen and Adam Doyle in the 11th minute. Seven minutes later we had our second goal when Adam Deegan and Barry Twomey created the chance for Patrick Flynn to finish. Micheál Kavanagh pointed in the 21st minute but the rest of the half belonged to St. Saviours and they pointed twice to see us lead 2-3 to 0-2 at the break.
St. Saviours pointed early before 1-1 from Joey Twomey and a second goal from Eoin Casey gave us a lead of 4-4 to 0-3 after eleven minutes. St. Saviours then hit two points before Adam Doyle replied for us. St. Saviours then added another two points to make it 4-5 to 0-7 with six minutes left. Jamie Roche pointed in the 26th minute and in the last minute Eamonn Dalton was finally beaten when St. Saviours got in for a goal.
Scorers: Joey Twomey 1-3 (0-2 frees), Eoin Casey 2-0, Patrick Flynn 1-0, Micheál Kavanagh, Adam Doyle (free) and Jamie Roche 0-1 each.
Panel: Eamonn Dalton, James Coad, Ronan O’Sullivan, David Farrell, Alan Fitzgerald, David Breen, James Grogan, Adam Deegan, John Kinsella, Joey Twomey, Patrick Flynn, Eoin Casey, Micheál Kavanagh, Barry Twomey, Adam Doyle, Jamie Roche, Graham Butler, Kevin Williams, Keith Deasy.- U-13 Football Division 2
Our U-13 footballers had an eventful week. They beat St. Marys 4-3 to 1-6 on Tuesday in the quarter final of the eastern championship. They followed that with a 3-10 to 1-6 win over Portlaw in the semi final on Thursday. However the run came to an end in the final on Sunday when we were beaten by Rathgormack 3-10 to 2-7. Well done to all the lads and congratulations to Rathgormack.

- Gerry Kennedy Crash Repairs East Intermediate Hurling Championship Erins Own 1-11 De La Salle 1-6
Our intermediate hurlers had a mixed week in Walsh Park going down to Erins Own on the bank holiday Monday but put in a strong second half performance to defeat Tramore last Saturday.
A disastrous first five minutes when we lost Tom Moran to injury and one of our forwards to a red card was instrumental in us getting our 2014 intermediate campaign off to a losing start. Erins Own had opened the scoring in the third minute and added further points in the 11th and 17th minutes before Kenneth Byrne opened our account from a ’65 in the 20th minute. We only trailed 0-3 to 0-1 after twenty five minutes but from there to the interval Erins Own took a firm grip on proceedings. They goaled in the 26th minute and added points in the 27th and 29th minutes. Jamie Sage pointed a free in the 30th minute after Conan Watt was fouled but Erins Own replied with points in the 32nd and 33rd minutes to lead 1-7 to 0-2 at the break.
They stretched their lead to nine points in the five minutes after the resumption but our fightback began in the 12th minute when after debutant Eddie Meaney was fouled, Kenneth Byrne goaled from the free. Three points from Patrick Flynn, Colm Morris and Jamie Sage followed and we trailed 1-8 to 1-5 with ten minutes left. Erins Own pointd in the 22nd minute and we were out of luck for a goal before Eddie Meaney reduced the margin to three again with five minutes left. However Erins Own finished stronger and added two points to finish deserving winners. Finally best wishes to Tom Moran who received hospital treatment after the game.
Scorers: Kenneth Byrne 1-1 (1-0 free, 0-1 ’65), Jamie Sage 0-2 (frees), Patrick Flynn, Colm Morris and Eddie Meaney 0-1 each.
Panel: Kyle Sinnott, Martin Sheehan, David Sutton, Patrick Kennedy, Conan Watt, Kenneth Byrne, Christopher Sheehan, Lee Hayes, Tom Moran, Colm Morris, Thomas Kearney, Eddie Meaney, Dylan Foley, Patrick Flynn, Jamie Sage, Adam Doyle, Brian Cunningham, Conor Bohane, Barry Twomey, Michael Roche, Evan Whelan, Jeff Cahill.- Intermediate Hurling- De La Salle 3-14 Tramore 0-9
A dream debut at this level for minor Brian Cunningham who scored 2-6 to help us to victory in this second round game. In fairness to Tramore the scoreboard was a poor reflection of their efforts as we only pulled away in the last ten minutes or so.
Playing against a strong wind in the first half two points from Brian saw us trail 0-3 to 0-2 after ten minutes. Three points between the 22nd and 25th minutes stretched Tramore’s lead to four points. Colm Morris reduced the arrears in the 30th minute but two injury time points had Tramore in front 0-8 to 0-3 at the interval.
We began the second half with Brian Cunningham pointing followed by two from Jamie Sage. We took the lead in the 11th minute when Eddie Meaney was fouled and up stepped team captain Kenneth Byrne to goal from the free. Brian Cunningham pointed two frees and Kenneth Byrne added another. Tramore pointed in the 19th minute to make it 1-9 to 0-9. Kenneth Byrne pointed another free and then Brian Cunningham goaled after Eoin Casey (back in the club colours after a stint in Boston) dropped in a high ball which was not dealt with properly. Points followed from Kenneth Byrne, Eddie Meaney, Colm Morris and Brian Cunningham before Brian finished the scoring with his second goal created by Lee Hayes.
Scorers: Brian Cunningham 2-6 (0-4 frees), Kenneth Byrne 1-3 (frees), Colm Morris and Jamie Sage 0-2 each, Eddie Meaney 0-1.
Panel: Kyle Sinnott, Martin Sheehan, David Sutton, Adam Doyle, Eoin Casey, Kenneth Byrne, Christopher Sheehan, Conor O’Toole, Conan Watt, Colm Morris, Thomas Kearney, Eddie Meaney, Brian Cunningham, Patrick Flynn, Jamie Sage, Lee Hayes, Conor Bohane, Barry Twomey, Michael Roche, Evan Whelan, Jeff Cahill.- East U-14 Football Final – De La Salle 7-4 Tramore 1-5
We won our first title of the year when our U-14 footballers won the eastern final at a windy Walsh Park on Saturday last. This was not as a one sided contest as the scoreline would suggest. We played against the strong wind in the first half and opened with an early goal but Tramore replied with a goal of their own. Both sides exchanged a number of points before a couple of De La Salle goals saw us lead 3-3 to 1-4 at half time. We played with the strong wind in the second half but Tramore worked very hard and continued to play good football. Eventually our pressure paid off and we outscored our opponents 4-1 to 0-1 to secure victory against a gallant Tramore side. Captain Dylan Finn accepted the trophy on behalf of the side. Commisserations to an excellent Tramore side.
Panel: Daniel Casey, Rueben O’Halloran, Joshua Campus, Ethan O’Halloran, Sam Flynn, Dylan Finn (captain), Niall O’Keeffe, Kevin Hennessy, Seán Connolly, Kelvin Daniel, Seághan Walsh, Liam Coad, Aidan Gannon, Lorcan Dwyer, James Cotter, Colm Maher, Kieran O’Loughlin, Kalem Walsh, Eamonn Brosnan, Nathan Finn, Brian Burke.- Sargent Cup Senior Hurling League – De La Salle 6-21 Passage 0-13
Our senior hurler had an easy victory over a Passage side who were without two thirds of their county winning team last Sunday in Gracedieu. First half goals from Paudie Nevin (2) and Shane Ryan saw us lead 3-11 to 0-9 at half time. A feature of the second half was the introduction of county minor Eddie Meaney who helped himself to three goals.
Scorers: Paudie Nevin 2-4, Eddie Meaney 3-0, Shane Ryan 1-4 (0-2 frees), David Greene 0-3, Brian Cunningham, Thomas Kearney and John Mullane 0-2 each, John Keane, Patrick Flynn, Evan Whelan and Colm Morris 0-1 each.

Allianz U-13 Hurling League
St. Declan’s 1-2 Mount Sion 2-2
Our U-13 hurlers made their exit from this years league following a one goal defeat to Mount Sion. The game was played at De La Salle College on Wednesday May 14th. Mount Sion opened the scoring with a pointed free in the early minutes. We were playing with the breeze in the first half and Conor O’Shea quickly replied with a well taken point from play. Darragh Power followed up with a goal just before the interval.
The second half began with Mount Sion piling on the pressure which yielded two goals and a point. Conor O’Shea added another point to leave a goal between the sides. We battled hard until the finish but the Mount Sion defence held firm. There were good performances from Darragh Treacy on goal, Nathan Finn and Conor Murphy in defence. Ronan Power worked very hard in mid-field and up front Conor O’Shea was prominent.- Fixtures

De La Salle 2-11 Abbeyside 1-12
Our senior hurler had a hard earned victory over Abbeyside in Walsh Park last Sunday in Round 2 of the championship. This was a game in which we were never allowed to dominate but we also missed several scoring chances including great goal opportunities in each half and were happy to come out with the points in the end.
We began well with Shane Ryan pointing a free after John Mullane was fouled in the first minute and three minutes later the same duo were involved as John set up Shane for a goal just after Abbeyside had equalised. The excellent Eddie Barrett pointed in the fifth minute helping us to a 1-2 to 0-1 lead. However, for the rest of the half we played second fiddle to Abbeyside and four points in a row gave them the lead. Adam Farrell equalised in the 18th minute. An exchange of points involving a Shane Ryan free after John Mullane was fouled saw it still level with five minutes to the break. Abbeyside then pointed twice but in between Dean Twomey was desperately unlucky not to goal and we trailed 0-9 to 1-4 at the interval.
A much improved second half performance saw us take the lead by the eight minute with points from Shane Ryan (’65), John Keane and a superb effort from Eddie Barrett. A minute later Dean Twomey created the chance for Shane Ryan to score his second goal with an excellent strike to give us a 2-7 to 0-9 lead. Both sides added 0-3 to their account with Shane McNulty, Paudie Nevin and Shane Ryan on the mark for us. Shane Ryan had a chance for his hat trick in this period but a great recovery hook denied him.
With three minutes to go Abbeyside got a goal that on another day may have been given as a square infringement but with time almost up Kevin Moran took a pass from David Greene and sent over an excellent score from near the sideline to secure victory.Scorers: Shane Ryan 2-4 (0-2 frees, 0-1 ’65), Eddie Barrett 0-2, Adam Farrell, John Keane, Shane McNulty, Paudie Nevin and Kevin Moran 0-1 each.
Panel: John Coady, Oran Keevers, Ian Flynn, Stephen Dalton, Shane McNulty, Kevin Moran, Bryan Phelan, Jack Kennedy, Eddie Barrett, Paudie Nevin, Adam Farrell, Dean Twomey, Shane Ryan, John Mullane, John Keane, David Greene, Stevie Brenner, Adam O’Sullivan, Patrick Kennedy, Conan Watt, Thomas Kearney, Colm Morris, Tom Moran, Dylan Foley, David Sutton, Martin Sheehan, Patrick Flynn, Kenneth Byrne, Kyle Sinnott, Jamie Sage.
- East Feile na nGael Final
Mount Sion 4-6 De La Salle 1-11
Our involvement in this years Feile na nGael came to an end at Walsh Park on Thursday last when we were beaten by Mount Sion. We trailed 1-4 to 0-4 at half time however a spirited second half performance saw us lead by five points with time running out. However two quick goals by Mount Sion saw them lead by one point. We had a goal disallowed and from the breakaway Mount Sion goaled to seal the win. This was an excellent game of hurling and congragulations to Mount Sion on their victory.

In the junior hurling championship we went down 3-14 to 1-11 to Roanmore in Round 2 last Thursday.

De La Salle 2-17 Lismore 2-9
Our senior hurler began this year’s championship with a hard earned victory over Lismore in Fraher Field last Friday. Played in possibly the windiest conditions we have ever experienced we had it in our favour in the first half and built up a 2-10 to 0-3 lead. The third quarter saw Lismore rally and they reduced the deficit to 2-11 to 2-7. Some astute tactical changes and some excellent performances saw us regain control and outscore our opponents 0-6 to 0-2 in the final quarter. On a night where we lined out without the injured Jake Dillon, Eoin Madigan and Stephen Daniels, kudos to teenagers Stephen Dalton and Shane Ryan who made their senior debuts and acquitted themselves very well.
We began well with points from the irrepresible John Mullane, Paudie Nevin and Shane Ryan giving us an early lead. Further points from Shane McNulty and John Mullane saw us lead 0-5 to 0-2 at the end of the first quarter. Two frees from Shane Ryan and a superb individual run and strike by Shane McNulty increased our lead by the twentieth minute. Dean Twomey then won the puckout and raced through before parting to John Mullane who crashed the ball to the roof of the net. Two more points followed from the outstanding Eddie Barrett and Kevin Moran and then in the 25th minute Johnny Keane found John Mullane who rounded the defender to score his second goal. Lismore replied with a point to leave the half time score 2-10 to 0-3.
The second half saw Lismore come out fighting and they racked up four points in the first five minutes. Paudie Nevin pointed in the ninth minute but then came what were two bad goals, from our point of view, inside three minutes and it was 2-11 to 2-7 with seventeen minutes to play. We looked in trouble but Shane Ryan replied with a pointed a free after Eddie Barrett was fouled in the 16th minute. Three minutes later Lismore hit the crossbar from a penalty with the rebound being sent over the bar. Two fouls on John Mullane saw Shane Ryan point the frees before Lismore had their last score in the 25th minute to leave it 2-14 to 2-9. The final minutes saw us on top with the excellent Adam Farrell drawing fouls which again Shane Ryan converted and an injury time point from David Greene ended the scoring.
Scorers: John Mullane 2-2, Shane Ryan 0-8 (frees), Paudie Nevin and Shane McNulty 0-2 each, Eddie Barrett, Kevin Moran and David Greene 0-1 each.
Panel: John Coady, Oran Keevers, Ian Flynn, Stephen Dalton, Shane McNulty, Kevin Moran, Bryan Phelan, Jack Kennedy, Eddie Barrett, Paudie Nevin, Adam Farrell, Dean Twomey, Shane Ryan, John Mullane, John Keane, David Greene, Stevie Brenner, Adam O’Sullivan, Patrick Kennedy, Conan Watt, Thomas Kearney, Colm Morris, Tom Moran, Dylan Foley, David Sutton, Martin Sheehan, Patrick Flynn, Kenneth Byrne, Kyle Sinnott.

Clonea 1-18 De La Salle 2-8
Our junior team began their campaign with a seven point defeat by Clonea in Gracedieu last Thusday. We fielded a team with a mixture of youth and experience but after making a good start Clonea got on top of us and were worthy winners in the end.
Playing against the breeze points from Brian Cunningham, Stephen Jacob, Conor O’Toole and Eamonn Fitzgerald had us 0-4 to 0-1 after seven minutes. Clonea then scored 1-3 without reply by the fifteenth minute. It was 1-4 each in the 16th minute when Barry Twomey rose highest to send Conor O’Toole’s delivery into the net. Five unanswered points then followed from Clonea before Jerome Fahy pointed in the 28th minute. Clonea replied with a point to lead 1-10 to 1-5 at the interval. The third quarter saw no change with both sides scoring three points, ours coming from Jerome Fahy and Brian Cunningham (2). Clonea added two points to their lead but we were back with a chance when Barry Twomey was fouled and he got up to crash the sliotar to the net to make it 1-15 to 2-8. However, that was as close as we came as Clonea added three further points to their tally to secure the points.
Scorers: Barry Twomey 2-0 (1-0 free), Brian Cunningham 0-3 (0-1 free), Jerome Fahy 0-2, Stephen Jacob, Conor O’Toole (free) and Eamonn Fitzgerald 0-1 each.

We participated in the local Feile competition on Bank Holiday Monday 21st April in Ballygunner Gaa Club. 5 teams De La Salle, Gaill Tir, Lismore, Dungarvan and Portlaw entered on the day. De La Salle and Lismore played a preliminary round which we emerged victorious after a hard fought match. Next up was Portlaw in the semi final stage which we won. This meant we played Gaill Tir in the winners section final. Our girls came up against a very good Gaill Tir side in the final losing out but the girls never gave up till the final whistle. Dungarvan won against Portlaw in the shield section. Best of luck to Gaill Tir in the National Feile.

De La Salle 0-14 St. Saviours 0-4
Our senior footballers got their championship campaign off to the best possible start when they produced an excellent performance to come away with a fine win over St. Saviours in Walsh Park last Sunday in what was a sporting encounter throughout.
We had first use of the wind and a point from Colm Morris and two frees from Ian Cantwell had us ahead 0-3 to 0-0 after eleven minutes. St. Saviours opened their account in the 16th minute but further points from Mitchell Casey (2), Colm Morris and David Kennedy had us ahead 0-7 to 0-1 after twenty four minutes. St. Saviours then pointed twice but Ian Cantwell replied with a free in injury time to see us ahead 0-8 to 0-3 at the interval. The second half was scoreless until the 12th minute when Ian Cantwell pointed another free which was followed immediately by a Stephen Walsh point. St. Saviours pointed a free in the 15th minute.
