    • U-14 Hurling

Our U-14s played two rounds of the Division One County Championship in the past week. On Monday, we hosted Mount Sion at Gracedieu. A strong wind blowing up the pitch made this the proverbial game of two halves. Mount Sion started with the wind and led 1-4 to 0-3 at half time. We played with a much stronger wind in the second half and ran out victorious 3-8 to 1-5.

On Wednesday, we played against Abbeyside at their ground in what turned out to be a very entertaining game of hurling. We led 2-3 to 1-2 at half time. However, Abbeyside stormed back in the second half and both sides exchanged a number of good scores. Abbeyside led by four with a couple of minutes remaining, however we reduced the deficit to a minimum with a good goal. But Abbeyside responded with a very good point to win on a score of 4-8 to 4-6. We would like to thank Abbeyside for playing the game on Wednesday to facilitate our Féile quiz night on the Thursday night.

    • U-12 Hurling

Our under 12s continue their progress in Division 2 of the City League with a fine win over Portlaw in Gracedieu on Friday last. This preserves this team’s unbeaten record in the City League to date.

    • U-11 Hurling

Mooncoin 2-11 De La Salle 3-6

On Wednesday last we suffered a narrow 2 point defeat to Mooncoin in Gracedieu. We had a couple of goal chances at the end to win it but unfortunately none were converted. Lining out without the services of Josh Kelly, we battled hard and at half time led by 8 points. Mooncoin however went on a scoring spree at the start of the second half but at the end there was only 2 points in it. This was a good team effort from all the lads. Keep it up. Next match vs Mount Sion in Gracedieu Friday 20th June 6.30pm.

    Scorers: D. Crowe 2-1, C. O’ Shea 1-2, C. Dawson 0-2, A. Keane 0-1.

Commiserations to Oran Keevers who was part of the Waterford side who went down to Clare last Saturday night. On a disappointing night for the footballers, who were not helped by what appeared to be a wrong call by Maurice Deegan to black card Shane Aherne in the first minute, Oran provided one of the few highlights with a tremendous goal line save in the first half.
