- County U-16 Football Championship
De La Salle 1-9 Gaultier 1-3
Our U-16 footballers made a good start to their campaign when they travelled to Gaultier last Sunday morning and came away with a hard earned victory over the home side who were missing a few players. This was a well contested and even enough game, with both sides missing chances, but our lads were a bit more economical in front of goal and emerged deserving winners. The mentors were also happy that they were able to give game time to all twenty one players present.
We got a great start and led 1-3 to 0-0 after 10 minutes through points from Kevin Hennessy, Seán Power and Alex Kennedy who then set up Lorcan Dwyer Sheridan for the goal. Gaultier opened their account a minute later when goalkeeper Donal Carey turned a goalbound shot over the crossbar. There was no further score until the 24th minute when Chris Kong pointed and four minutes later the excellent Eoghan Rea pointed after a strong run to leave us ahead 1-5 to 0-1 at the break. The second half began with our lads on top but they were unable to make it count and Gaultier were right back in the game when they pointed in the 12th minute and followed with a goal a minute later. However, our lads responded well and four points in the next ten minutes followed from Eoghan Rea, Kevin Hennessy, Stephen Power and Peter Grogan put us seven ahead. Gaultier pointed in the 25th minute and tried hard to break through our defence for the goals they needed but found Seán Carton, Ciáran Corrigan, Conor Giles Doran and Dylan Finn in resolute form.
Scorers: Lorcan Dwyer Sheridan 1-0, Kevin Hennessy (0-1 free) and Eoghan Rea 0-2 each, Seán Power, Alex Kennedy, Chris Kong, Peter Grogan and Stephen Power 0-1 each.
Panel: Donal Carey, Seán O’Keeffe, Seán Carton, Ciáran Corrigan, Eoghan McGrath Butler, Conor Giles Doran, Dylan Finn, Eoghan Rea, Luke Flynn, Kevin Hennessy, Peter Grogan, Chris Kong, Lorcan Dwyer Sheridan, Seán Power, Alex Kennedy, Luke Walsh, Eoin Treacy, Stephen Power, Luke Stacey, Dan Casey, Ian Condon.
- East U-21 Football Semi Final
The board has fixed our U-21 football semi final against Rathgormack for next Friday night in St. Mollerans at 8pm. However, since then the Waterford v Offaly league match was changed to Saturday and we requested a postponement of the U-21 due to Shane McNulty’s double involvement. The Waterford U-21 football selectors have also requested that it be postponed until after they play Clare. At the time of writing these notes we don’t know if the game will go ahead or not.

Well done to team captain Jake Dillon and WIT hurlers on their battling performances in the Fitzgibbon Cup in Limerick at the weekend. Hopefully they will be successful in the replay.
