East Intermediate Football Championship
De La Salle 1-9 Dunhill 0-9
A goal seven minutes from time by Stephen Walsh proved to be the decisive score as our intermediate footballers had their second win after another hard fought game with Dunhill in Walsh Park last Saturday. Both sides were missing players and if anything our opponents looked the likelier winners until that all important goal.
We dominated the early minutes but had only a fourth minute point from Colm Morris to show for it. Three points between the 10th and 12th minutes put Dunhill ahead. David Kennedy reduced the arrears in the 16th minute but Dunhill added points in the 19th and 20th minutes to lead 0-5 to 0-2. Kenneth Byrne pointed in the 21st minute and Dunhill replied two minutes later. We finished the half with points in the 27th minute from Ian Cantwell and in the 30th minute from David Kennedy to see us trail 0-6 to 0-5 at the break.
We started the second half with a fifth minute point from Ian Cantwell to level matters. Dunhill regained the lead two minutes later. There then followed thirteen scoreless minutes during which Dunhill missed a great goal chance in the 14th minute before they pointed a free in the 20th minute to make it 0-8 to 0-6. The game changed in the 23rd minute when David Kennedy’s diagonal ball was well won by his brother Paddy who put Stephen Walsh through on goal and he made no mistake finishing low to the net. Colm Morris increased the lead with a point a minute later. Dunhill got what proved to be their last score from a free in the 26th minute. Two late points from Ian Cantwell and a Paddy Kennedy free after a foul on Colm Morris secured the victory.
Scorers: Ian Cantwell 0-3, Stephen Walsh 1-0, Colm Morris and David Kennedy 0-2 each, Kenneth Byrne and Paddy Kennedy (free) 0-1 each.
Panel: David Dennison, Christopher Sheehan, Colm Clancy (captain), Ryan Duke, Oran Keevers, Kenneth Byrne, Stephen Dalton, Stephen Walsh, James Grogan, Donal Barron, Ian Cantwell, Dylan Foley, David Kennedy, Colm Morris, Paddy Kennedy, Conan Watt, Eamonn Dalton.

East Junior Football Championship
Ballyduff Lower 2-17 De La Salle 0-0
Our junior footballers suffered their first defeat of the year when they comprehensively beaten by Ballyduff Lower last Friday. Having lost two players to the intermediate side and with several other unavailable through work, holidays and injury we did manage to put together a collection of young and old to get fifteen players on the field but we were no match for much superior opponents on the night.
