County U-14 Football Peil na nOg B Final
De La Salle 6-3 Ballyduff/Portlaw 2-3
Our U-14 footballers won the county B feile final at Walsh park on Thursday last overcoming a gallant Ballyduff /Portlaw side. This was a particularly difficult evening to play football due to a strong wind that blew straight down the pitch. We played against the wind in the first twenty minutes and struggled early on against our very good opponents. We were two points down very early on before Daire O’Keefe replied with a point. We then had a period of dominance which yielded two goals from Conor Walsh. Out opponents replied with an excellent point. We turned at half time leading 2-1 to 0-3
We started the second half well and early goals from Reuben O’Halloran, Alex Keane and captain Nathan Finn set us on the road to victory. A further goal from Josh Kelly and points from Daire O’Keefe and Owen Oseni completed our scoring. Our opponents never gave up and finished strongly with two late goals.
The wind was a big factor in this game and a more realistic score was the three points that separated the sides in a league match the previous week. There is great credit due to this group of players and they now have the national feile to look forward to.

Fixtures
Next Saturday night was supposed to see us beginning the county senior hurling championship with a game against Passage. However, next Sunday’s league final replay has certainly affected the fixture list. We are also scheduled to play An Gaeltacht on Sunday morning in the semi final of the county U-16 football. Again we await to see what Bord na nOg will decide in this instance.
