    • East Division 2 U-15 Hurling Final

De La Salle 4-14 Tramore 1-21

Congratulations to our U-15 hurlers who were crowned Eastern Division 2 champions last Monday night in Walsh Park after a great win over Tramore. This was a thrilling final with both teams playing some great hurling producing 5 goals and 35 points over the course of the match. The match was even for most of the first half before a flurry of late points saw Tramore take a 5 point lead into the hal ftime break. The second half proved to be even more exciting and the lead was exchanged on several occasions during this half with Tramore leading by a single point deep in injury time. However, with virtually the last play of the game Eamonn Brosnan scrambled home the vital goal to ensure a two point win which was no more than the boys deserved after the commitment they all showed in the course of the final. The boys will now play St. Carthages in the County Final and this is provisionally arranged for Dungarvan on September 18th.

Panel: Daire Treacy, Evan Drohan, Ben Coady, Alex Keane, Dean Casey, David Ryan, Harry Lawton, Shane O’Neill, Lorcan Kerry, Darren Kenneally (captain), Eamonn Brosnan, Reuben O’Halloran, Jack Stickel, Aaron Wymberry, Nathan Finn, Conor Murphy, Ryan McCarthy, Adam Stacey, Sean Treacy.

    • County Minor Hurling Championship

De La Salle 3-13 St. Carthages 1-11

Our minor hurlers came out on top in this battle of the unbeaten sides in Gracedieu last Wednesday when a late scoring burst of 1-2 saw us collect the points. This was a cracking game of hurling between two very good sides in which the star of the show was U-16 player Nathan Finn who scored 2-5 on his first start.

Playing against the wind, we got a great start when Dylan Finn collected a pass from Sean Power and goaled inside the first minute. A free from Mikey Costigan after a foul on Cormac McCann and a point from play by Dylan Finn saw us lead 1-2 to 0-0 after three minutes. St. Carthages then took over and by the midway point led 1-5 to 1-2. Thomas Douglas pointed in the 16th minute but St. Carthages replied with two in the 18th and 19th minutes. Thomas Douglas pointed a free in the 21st minute after Dylan Finn was fouled but again St. Carthages replied twice in the 23rd and 30th minutes to lead 1-9 to 1-4 at half time. The second half began with the St. Carthages goalkeeper saving from Cormac McCann and Mikey Costigan pointing the resultane sixty five. Dylan Finn added another in the seventh minute but we suffered a blow a minute later when a defensive error let St. Carthages in for their second goal. Two points from Dylan Finn and one from Cormac McCann made it 2-9 to 1-9 after twelve minutes. St. Carthages pointed in the 14th minute but a minute later Dylan Finn got his second goal after good work by Sean Power. Points from Dylan Finn and Mikey Costigan from a sixty five put us ahead 2-11 to 2-10 after twenty four minutes. St. Carthages equalised two minutes later but almost immediately we were back in front with a fine point from Adam Hayes. The game was decided in the 30th minute when a shot for a point from Thomas Douglas ended up in the net. Thomas added a point in injury time to close the scoring. On Sunday morning we received a walkover from Dungarvan in the final round and we now play Clonea in the semi final.

Scorers: Dylan Finn 2-5, Thomas Douglas 1-3 (0-1 free), Mikey Costigan 0-3 (0-1 free, 0-2 ’65s), Cormac McCann and Adam Hayes 0-1 each.
