- County Minor Football Championship
Brickey Rangers 2-9 De La Salle 0-2
Our under strength minor footballers were well beaten in Bushy Park by Brickey Rangers last Sunday morning. Missing five of the team that won the previous week we played the entire game with fourteen players with the injured Jack McCarthy making up the numbers for the start of the second half. The lads tried hard and put up a decent first half display but were gradually worn down by our opponents as they tired.
We began badly conceding a goal in the third minute. Brickeys added a point in the 12th minute and it took us until the 28th minute to open our account when Shane Ryan pointed a free. Brickeys pointed again in injury time and we trailed 1-2 to 0-1 at the interval. The third quarter was all one way traffic with Brickeys kicking five unanswered points. They wrapped the game up in the 17th minute with their second goal to lead 2-7 to 0-1. David Hogan then kicked a fine point in the 23rd minute before Brickeys closed out the scoring with two late points.
After two consecutive Sunday morning trips to West Waterford the team mentors would like to thank the parents who travelled to support the lads and provide transport.
Scorers: Shane Ryan (free) and David Hogan 0-1 each.
Panel: Ciaran Brady, Conor Hogan, Adam Doyle, Ryan Duke, Craig Dowling, Michael Roche, James Grogan, Evan Whelan, Shane Ryan, Jeff Cahill, James Stone, David Hogan, Adam Hayes, Jamie Roche, Jack McCarthy.
