John J. Murphy East Junior B Hurling Championship
De La Salle 1-12 St. Saviours 2-8
Our junior hurlers ended the league section of their championship with a one point victory over St. Saviours in a close hard fought game played in Cleaboy last Friday. This was a game in which we led for the most part but could never pull away and an injury time goal for St. Saviours had us glad to hear the whistle.
A highlight of this game was the performance of Cormac McCann who was making his debut at this level and ended up as top scorer but on the downside Darren Casey picked up an injury which could see him miss a few weeks action. Another feature of this game was the top quality saves made by both goalkeepers.
St. Saviours opened the scoring inside the first minute but we replied with points from Christopher Sheehan, Mikey Costigan and Luke Lalor to lead 0-3 to 0-1 after four minutes. St. Saviours regained the lead in the ninth minute when they goaled and they added a point two minutes later. We added four points between the thirteenth and twenty first minutes from Cormac McCann, Eamonn Fitzgerald and Mikey Costigan with two frees after fouls on himself and Darren Casey. St. Saviours then scored two points to level matters before Eamonn Fitzgerald pointed in the 29th minute to see us ahead 0-8 to 1-4 at the interval.
The first score of the second half came in the fourth minute when Cormac McCann ran on to Kieran O’Donohoe’s long delivery and crashed the ball to the net. Christopher Sheehan and Cormac McCann then added points. St. Saviours got their first point of the half before Mikey Costigan pointed another free after Christopher Sheehan was fouled to keep us ahead 1-11 to 1-5 midway through the half. St. Saviours pointed twice in the 20th and 22nd minutes before Mikey Costigan got our last score in the 24th minute from a sixty five to make it 1-12 to 1-7. St. Saviours made it a four point game with a point in the 27th minute. Then came their goal in injury time but time ran out for them.We now wait to see who we play in the knockout stages.
Scorers: Cormac McCann 1-2, Mikey Costigan 0-5 (0-3 frees, 0-1 ’65), Christopher Sheehan and Eamonn Fitzgerald 0-2 each, Luke Lalor 0-1.

All Ireland Championship
Congratulations to Derek McGrath, Kevin Moran, Jake Dillon, Stephen Daniels, Eddie Barrett, Shane McNulty, Mark Cooney, Fergal O’Brien and the Waterford senior hurlers on an excellent win over Dublin last Sunday in Semple Stadium to qualify for a tilt at the reigning champions Kilkenny in the All Ireland hurling semi final. It was especially thriling for us to see Stephen Daniels return to championship action for the first time since 2012 and to be involved in the moves for both goals. It was also a good weekend for Jason Ryan and Micko Casey as Kildare qualified for the All Ireland football quarter finals. Well done to all.

County U-16 Hurling Championship
De La Salle 10-14 Ballygunner 1-6
Our U-16 hurlers maintained their unbeaten start with this win in Ballygunner last Wednesday. The main talking point after the game was Thomas Douglas scoring an individual tally of 8-8. The assumption after was that this was a club record for one player as no one could recall it being bettered.
