    Our Adult and Juvenile Club Awards were held in John Kelly Opel on the Cork Road last Sunday evening with a very good attendance present.

     

    The evening began with Juvenile Chairman Paudie Brosnan presenting the U13 A and U16 Division 2 Hurling county medals and U14 Division 2 Feile county football medals.

     

    This was then followed by U21 Hurling selector Barry Murphy and Eastern Board Secretary John Sheehan presenting our U21 A hurling panel with their eastern medals.

     

    The various player of the year awards were then handed out. Jake Dillon won the senior hurler of the year and Evan Whelan was named intermediate footballer. Ryan Duke was selected as intermediate hurler and the junior hurler award went to Eamon Fitzgerald. U21 captain Eddie Meaney, was named U21 Hurler of the Year. Seaghan Walsh was chosen as young footballer. Darren Kenneally was named the young hurler of the year and the much coveted Liam O’Donnell memorial trophy was presented to Darren by Yvonne Kearney.

     

    Special recognition awards were given to Beth Carton and Abby Flynn for their fantastic camogie achievements in 2018.

     

    Adult Club chairman Seamus Quirke, then spoke and in his speech he announced that Eoin Casey was selected as club person of the year.

     

    We would like to extend our compliments and thanks to Martin Doyle of John Kelly Opel for the use of their facilities for the awards and their continued support each year, and also to Johnny Walsh and Rose Madigan for their help, it’s greatly appreciated.

    • Hand on Heart March

     

    De La Salle GAA will be running a bus to Dublin for the Hand On Heart march to Dail Eireann, ‪Saturday 9th March.

     

    The bus will leave Waterford ‪at 8.30am and arrive back home for ‪6pm.

    The 7th Annual Bunny Fun Run in aid of CMRF Crumlin takes place on Easter ‪Sunday, 21st April 2019, at Waterford RSC.

    • Déise Draw 2019

     

    The launch took place last Friday 15th February and will begin on the last Wednesday in April.

     

    The finance from this is so important to our club so we would ask all our members to support it once again.

    • Camogie

    Congratulations to Beth Carton who won her 3rd consecutive Ashbourne Cup winners medal yesterday in Mallow against UCC on a scoreline of UL 3-08 to UCC 0-08. Beth was awarded Player Of The Match for the Ashbourne Cup Final and also awarded an Ashbourne All Star Award.

    Congratulations to St Angela’s Ursuline School who are through to their first All Ireland Senior A camogie final where they defeated Loreto Wexford on a scoreline of Ursuline 3-8 Loreto Wexford 2-9. Congrats and best of luck in the final to all our members involved.

    Our Adult and Juvenile Awards will be on next Sunday February 17th at 4pm in John Kelly Opel Showrooms on the Cork Road where we gather to honour our players for the 2018 season.

    In what should be another great social occasion with player of the year awards along with Eastern Medals for our U-21 hurlers, Eastern and County Medals for various underage teams and special achievement awards being presented.

    We hope to see you all there!
