- East U-16 Hurling Final
De La Salle 4-9 Mount Sion 1-9
After a couple of false starts, this year’s U-16 Eastern Hurling Final took place in Walsh Park on Saturday last. On soft ground it was always going to be a battle to the end and so it proved. An early Conor Dunphy point and Luke Walsh goal gave us an early advantage. Mount Sion fought back through points of their own and looked dangerous throughout the whole game.
We led 1-4 to 0-5 at half time but an early second half goal for Mount Sion brought the score back to the minimum and it proved to be a much needed wake up call for our lads. A Thomas Douglas double and a goal from Sean Power gave us a nine point winning margin in the end. It’s been an incredible journey through the juvenile ranks for this team winning five eastern titles, three county titles and representing Waterford at the 2012 Feile.
Thanks to all the mentors and backroom team that made these achievements possible and a special thanks to the families for supporting this team throughout the years. This group now look forward to competing in the adult ranks and here’s hoping that they will pick up some more silverware along the way.

- East U-16 Football Final
Gaultier 5-6 De La Salle 0-2
Twenty four hours later it was back to Walsh Park where most of the same team took on Gaultier in the U-16 football final and we were eventually well beaten by a very good side. Minus Conor Giles Doran and Sean Carton through illness, the lads put in a spirited first half display but failed to take their chances and we trailed 0-2 to 0-1 at the interval. The second half was all Gaultier and they ran out worthy winners. Congratulations to Gaultier on their victory and thank to our mentors for their efforts.
