- Sargent Cup Senior Hurling League
Dungarvan 3-15 De La Salle 1-18
A last quarter fightback by our understrength senior hurlers came up short in Dungarvan last Friday night. Fielding only six of the team that started our two championship games we found ourselves trailing by eleven points at one stage in the second half. The introduction of Eddie Meaney and the switch of John Mullane to full forward saw us reduce the arrears to three points and it took a fine save by the Dungarvan keeper from Eddie Meaney in the last minute to deny us a share of the points.
The first half saw us struggle and we conceded a goal inside the first minute. We were trailing by a point when Dungarvan got their second goal in the 19th minute from a free and they went on to lead 2-7 to 0-7 at the interval. The highlight of the first half from our point of view was the continued good showing from minor Brian Cunningham.
The first ten minutes of the second half saw us continue to play second fiddle and when Dungarvan got their third goal in the 10th minute from a penalty we were 3-10 to 0-8 in arrears. It was 3-12 to 0-11 after fifteen minutes but we then struck four points in a row. Dungarvan pointed before some fine work by Paudie Nevin set up a goal for John Mullane with seven minutes left. Late points from John Mullane (2) and Dean Twomey reduced the gap to three points before the Dungarvan keeper made what was his second excellent save in the second half to ensure their win.
Scorers: John Mullane 1-6 (0-3 frees), Brian Cunningham 0-6 (0-4 frees), Colm Morris 0-2, David Greene, Paudie Nevin, John Keane and Dean Twomey 0-1 each.

- County Junior Football ‘Senior Attached’ Championship
De La Salle 4-6 St. Saviours 1-7
We played our first game in the newly created county junior football championship for senior attached teams in Ballybeg last Monday and came away with a hard fought victory. The scoreline is somewhat misleading in that it was an even enough contest in which we took our goal chances and St. Saviours found last year’s player of the year Eamonn Dalton in outstanding form in goal. A positive for us on the night was that five minors saw action who all acquited themselves well and in total we had eight players who were 22 or younger playing.
Two early frees by Joey Twomey were followed by a goal from Eoin Casey after good work by David Breen and Adam Doyle in the 11th minute. Seven minutes later we had our second goal when Adam Deegan and Barry Twomey created the chance for Patrick Flynn to finish. Micheál Kavanagh pointed in the 21st minute but the rest of the half belonged to St. Saviours and they pointed twice to see us lead 2-3 to 0-2 at the break.
St. Saviours pointed early before 1-1 from Joey Twomey and a second goal from Eoin Casey gave us a lead of 4-4 to 0-3 after eleven minutes. St. Saviours then hit two points before Adam Doyle replied for us. St. Saviours then added another two points to make it 4-5 to 0-7 with six minutes left. Jamie Roche pointed in the 26th minute and in the last minute Eamonn Dalton was finally beaten when St. Saviours got in for a goal.
Scorers: Joey Twomey 1-3 (0-2 frees), Eoin Casey 2-0, Patrick Flynn 1-0, Micheál Kavanagh, Adam Doyle (free) and Jamie Roche 0-1 each.
Panel: Eamonn Dalton, James Coad, Ronan O’Sullivan, David Farrell, Alan Fitzgerald, David Breen, James Grogan, Adam Deegan, John Kinsella, Joey Twomey, Patrick Flynn, Eoin Casey, Micheál Kavanagh, Barry Twomey, Adam Doyle, Jamie Roche, Graham Butler, Kevin Williams, Keith Deasy.
- U-13 Football Division 2
Our U-13 footballers had an eventful week. They beat St. Marys 4-3 to 1-6 on Tuesday in the quarter final of the eastern championship. They followed that with a 3-10 to 1-6 win over Portlaw in the semi final on Thursday. However the run came to an end in the final on Sunday when we were beaten by Rathgormack 3-10 to 2-7. Well done to all the lads and congratulations to Rathgormack.
