County Senior Hurling Relegation Play Off
De La Salle 1-18 Lismore 1-12
Our senior hurlers sponsored by John Kelly Opel maintained their senior status with a six point victory over a battling Lismore side in Fraher Field last Sunday. This was a horrible game for both clubs and we were mighty relieved at the end of it to survive and we commiserate with Lismore on the result.
We began well with a long range free from Bryan Phelan after Stephen Daniels was fouled and a point from play by Jake Dillon inside the first three minutes. Lismore opened their account in the fifth minute but points from Jake Dillon (2), Eddie Barrett and Bryan Phelan had us ahead 0-6 to 0-1 at the end of the first quarter.
Lismore pointed in the 17th minute and Jake Dillon replied from a free a minute later. Lismore pointed again in the 20th minute but we dominated the last ten minutes with points from Jake Dillon, Eddie Barrett (3) and Adam Farrell to lead 0-12 to 0-3 at half time.
The second half began with an exchange of frees involving Jake Dillon. Lismore received a boost in the fourth minute when they were awarded a free for a late tackle and they goaled. They added two further points to trail 0-13 to 1-6 with only seven minutes gone. Jake Dillon pointed frees in the 12th and 16th minutes but Lismore pointed in the 14th, 17th 19th and 22nd minutes to make the score 0-15 to 1-10. Jake Dillon pointed a free in the 24th minute after Johnny Keane was fouled and a minute later Johnny Keane and John Mullane combined to set up Eddie Meaney for an excellent goal from a narrow angle. Credit to Lismore they came back with two points to narrow the gap but we finished the stronger with two late points from Jake Dillon and supersub Eddie Meaney to secure our most important win in years.
Thanks to team manager Ray Murphy, Luke Lalor, Brendan Fennelly and their backroom team for the effort they put in during the year.
Scorers: Jake Dillon 0-10 (0-8 frees), Eddie Barrett 0-4, Eddie Meaney 1-1, Bryan Phelan 0-2 (0-1 free), Adam Farrell 0-1.

County Minor Hurling Semi Final
Cois Brid 0-15 De La Salle 0-11
Our minor hurlers exited the championship when they were beaten by Cois Brid last Wednesday night in Fraher Field. This was a close hard fought encounter, if somewhat low scoring, between two well matched sides for forty minutes but Cois Brid took over in the final period to emerge deserving winners.
We opened well and scored three points in the first seven minutes from Conor Dunphy, Mikey Costigan after a foul on Thomas Douglas and Eddie Meaney. Points in the 13th, 14th and 17th minutes saw Cois Brid level matters. A foul on Eddie Meaney resulted in Mikey Costigan restoring our lead a minute later but Cois Brid equalised in the 20th minute from a sixty five after a fine save by Donal Carey. Cois Brid went ahead for the first time in the 22nd minute but we were level again in the 25th minute when Cormac McCann pointed.
Mikey Costigan put us in front again when Conor Dunphy was fouled in the 27th minute but Cois Brid equalised again in the 30th minute to make it 0-6 each at half time
We began the second half with Thomas Douglas blasting the sliotar inches over the bar after seventeen seconds. Cois Brid again equalised in the third minute but points from Eddie Meaney and Mikey Costigan after a foul on Eddie had us ahead 0-9 to 0-7 after seven minutes. However, that was as good as it got for us as the physically stronger Cois Brid lads took over and scored seven unanswered points between the 10th and 23rd minutes to lead 0-14 to 0-9. Another foul on Eddie Meaney saw Mikey Costigan point in the 25th minute and when Cormac McCann pointed in the 27th minute we had hopes that we might snatch a draw. It was not to be and Cois Brid made the game save with an injury time point.
Well done to Cois Brid and we wish them well in the county final and commiserations to our own lads. Thanks to our mentors Peter Hearne, Jamie Power, Pat Dunphy, Stevie Brenner, Johnny Keane and to Johann Carey on first aid for their efforts throughout the year.
Scorers: Mikey Costigan 0-5 (frees), Eddie Meaney and Cormac McCann 0-2 each, Conor Dunphy and Thomas Douglas 0-1 each.

Hard luck to our U-16 girls who played their County A Final on last Thursday in Walsh Park. This was a cracker of a game played at a hectic pace with plenty of skill and committment on show over the hour of camogie by both sides. De La Salle led 3-5 to 1-6 at half time. Our opponents Gailltir came out strongly in the 2nd half and ran out winners 4-9 (21) to 3-18 (27). Well done to the girls for the committment shown throughout the year to training and games. It was great to see Caoimhe back on the playing field again after last years injury lay off.
