The guests on the day to present the various medals and trophies included county senior hurling captain Kevin Moran along with Jake Dillon, Eddie Barrett and Stephen Daniels as well as Oran Keevers who was a McGrath Cup winner with the county senior footballers last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Juvenile chairman Paudie Brosnan welcomed the lads and their parents. He complimented all the teams who had represented the club during the year and emphasised the importance of the enjoyment of playing whether trophies were being won or not. He specially emphasised the wonderful discipline and behaviour of the lads both on and off the field.<\/p>\n<p>He spoke of the great weekend the U-14 footballers had in Leitrim when they won their division of the All Ireland Peil na nOg and he congratulated all the teams that were successful.<\/p>\n<p>He thanked all the various team mentors for their work and the three schools for their help. He thanked groundmen in Cleaboy and Gracedieu for the excellent condition of the pitches always. He then thanked clubman Martin Doyle of John Kelly Opel for providing their facilities and their hospitality on the day and David Hayes for the PA system.<br \/>\nClub chairman Owen Dunphy also complimented the lads and their families. He thanked John Kelly Opel and the boys families for their valued and continued financial support in these times.<\/p>\n<p>County and Eastern Division 1 medals were presented to our U-16 hurlers. Eastern Division 1 medals were presented to our U-15 hurlers, our U-14 hurlers and footballers and Division 2 medals to our U-12 footballers. City League Division 2 medals were presented to our U-12 hurlers.<\/p>\n<p>It was then on to the presentation of the various player of the year and most improved player awards.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Most Improved Players<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>U-11 hurling: Glen Buckley, U-12 hurling: Killian Power, U-13 hurling: Evan Drohan, U-14 hurling: Colm Maher.<br \/>\nU-12 football: Ose Ehimare, U-13 football Adam O&#8217;Brien, U-14 football: Dan Casey.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Players of the Year<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>U-11 hurling: Cormac Dawson, U-12 hurling: Reuben Halloran, U-13 Hurling: Darren Kenneally, U-14 hurling: Lorcan Dwyer-Sheridan, U-15 hurling: Ian Condon, U-16 hurling: Michael Costigan.<br \/>\nU-12 football: Conor Walsh, U-13 football: Shane O&#8217;Neill, U-14 football: Kevin Hennessy, U-16 football: Colm Stockdale.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Minor Football Championship<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Next Sunday 8th February sees the beginning of the new season which commences with our minor footballers taking on the reigning county champions Nire in Gracedieu in a game timed for 11.30am.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Championship Start Dates<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As stated the first team in action next weekend are our minor footballers. U-21 footballers will be in action on both the weekends of 22nd and 29th February. Junior football is planned to start on 27th March. Senior football is down for the weekend of 12th April. Senior and intermediate hurling is scheduled for weekend of 3rd May with the junior hurling set to commence the following week. The senior football league is due to begin on Saturday 7th March with the senior hurling league starting three weeks later on 28th March.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>National Football League<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Well done to Oran Keevers and the Waterford senior footballers on continuing their winning run with victory over Wicklow in Fraher Field last Saturday in the opening football league game.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Lotto<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There was no winner of our Lotto jackpot and it now stands at \u20ac4,000. The next draw takes place on Monday 9th February. Numbers drawn were 2, 12, 19, 22.
