Ballygunner tagged on a point and at this juncture both sides missed a number of scoring opportunities. Both sides goaled before half time to leave the minimum between the sides at the break 2-0 to 1-2. There was a big improvement in the quality of the hurling in the second half as both sides contributed to an excellent game. Ballygunner quickly levelled and we responded with our third goal. Ballygunner levelled with a goal of their own and both sides exchanged points to leave the sides level 3- 1 to 2-4. At this juncture we began to exert more control on the game and went a point ahead and quickly followed that with our fourth goal. We tagged on another point to ensure victory.<\/p>\n
Whereas the club were winning this trophy for the fourth year in a row it was the first ever hurling success for this group of players and there were scenes of delight afterwards when team captain Seaghan Walsh accepted the cup\u00a0from Eastern board chairman Jim Murphy.
