After a close first half we took control in the second half and ran out comfortable winners. Abbeyside were missing a couple of defenders and struggled to get the grips with our full forward line of Luke Flynn, Cormac McCann and Thomas Douglas who scored 2-9 from play between them in a game in which the Abbeyside keeper won the admiration of the attendance with three superb saves.<\/p>\n<p>Abbeyside took the lead in the first minute but Thomas Douglas equalised a minute later. Abbeyside pointed again in the sixth minute but we were ahead within the minute when Lee Wall and Gavin Coppinger set up Thomas Douglas who crashed the ball to the net. Abbeyside then replied with two points to level matters. Points from Cormac McCann, the excellent Luke Flynn,<\/p>\n<p>Mikey Costigan and Thomas Douglas (2) between the 10th and 26th minutes had us ahead 1-6 to 0-4 before two late points for Abbeyside reduced our lead to three points at the interval.<\/p>\n<p>We began the second half with Sean Power pointing within ten seconds. Further points from Mikey Costigan, Thomas Douglas, James Stone and Luke Flynn had us ahead 1-11 to 0-6 by the fifth minute. Abbeyside replied with two frees before Luke Flynn pointed after good work by Ian Condon. Abbeyside pointed again but we added points from Luke Flynn, James Stone (2) and Thomas Douglas to lead 1-16 to 0-9 after nineteen minutes. The last few minutes saw us embellish the score when first Luke Flynn goaled after he was set up by Cormac McCann. Cormac followed with a point and then after another run he set up Adam Hayes for our third goal. Registration at John Kelly Opel from 9am (Leaving at 9.30am ) Participants will have the option of 50 or 75 KM routes and refreshments will be served before, during and after the event. Entry fee is \u20ac10 and as this is the main fundraiser for the club we are looking for team members to fill their sponsorship card and cycle\/steward on the day.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>Lotto<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There was no winner of our Lotto jackpot last Monday night and it now stands at \u20ac13,500. The next draw takes place on Tuesday 2nd August. Numbers drawn were 14, 24, 29, 31. There were five winners of \u20ac20 each.<\/p>\n<p>Winners: Eamonn Walsh c\/o Seller Johnny Walsh, Danielle Dower c\/o Seller Ian Flynn, Wer Irish c\/o Seller Willie Stephens, Barry Madigan c\/o Seller Norris&#8217;s, Marie c\/o Seller Sandra Hearne.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>All Ireland Quarter Final<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Well done to Derek McGrath, Kevin Moran, Jake Dillon, Shane McNulty, Eddie Barrett, Mark Cooney, Fergal O&#8217;Brien and the Waterford senior hurlers on defeating Wexford in Thurles last Sunday and setting up a semi final meeting with champions Kilkenny.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>Munster U-21 Final<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Best wishes to Adam Farrell (joint captain), Jack Fagan and the Waterford U-21 hurlers who take on Tipperary in Walsh Park next Wednesday in the Munster final.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>New Arrival<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Congratulations to our senior hurler and Waterford captain Kevin Moran and Aoife O&#8217;Neill on the birth of a baby girl Ella who arrived during the week.
