Erins Own had opened the scoring in the third minute and added further points in the 11th and 17th minutes before Kenneth Byrne opened our account from a ’65 in the 20th minute. We only trailed 0-3 to 0-1 after twenty five minutes but from there to the interval Erins Own took a firm grip on proceedings. They goaled in the 26th minute and added points in the 27th and 29th minutes. Jamie Sage pointed a free in the 30th minute after Conan Watt was fouled but Erins Own replied with points in the 32nd and 33rd minutes to lead 1-7 to 0-2 at the break.
They stretched their lead to nine points in the five minutes after the resumption but our fightback began in the 12th minute when after debutant Eddie Meaney was fouled, Kenneth Byrne goaled from the free. Three points from Patrick Flynn, Colm Morris and Jamie Sage followed and we trailed 1-8 to 1-5 with ten minutes left. Erins Own pointd in the 22nd minute and we were out of luck for a goal before Eddie Meaney reduced the margin to three again with five minutes left. However Erins Own finished stronger and added two points to finish deserving winners.

Finally best wishes to Tom Moran who received hospital treatment after the game.
Scorers: Kenneth Byrne 1-1 (1-0 free, 0-1 ’65), Jamie Sage 0-2 (frees), Patrick Flynn, Colm Morris and Eddie Meaney 0-1 each.
Panel: Kyle Sinnott, Martin Sheehan, David Sutton, Patrick Kennedy, Conan Watt, Kenneth Byrne, Christopher Sheehan, Lee Hayes, Tom Moran, Colm Morris, Thomas Kearney, Eddie Meaney, Dylan Foley, Patrick Flynn, Jamie Sage, Adam Doyle, Brian Cunningham, Conor Bohane, Barry Twomey, Michael Roche, Evan Whelan, Jeff Cahill.

Intermediate Hurling- De La Salle 3-14 Tramore 0-9

A dream debut at this level for minor Brian Cunningham who scored 2-6 to help us to victory in this second round game. In fairness to Tramore the scoreboard was a poor reflection of their efforts as we only pulled away in the last ten minutes or so.
Playing against a strong wind in the first half two points from Brian saw us trail 0-3 to 0-2 after ten minutes. Three points between the 22nd and 25th minutes stretched Tramore’s lead to four points. Colm Morris reduced the arrears in the 30th minute but two injury time points had Tramore in front 0-8 to 0-3 at the interval.
We began the second half with Brian Cunningham pointing followed by two from Jamie Sage. We took the lead in the 11th minute when Eddie Meaney was fouled and up stepped team captain Kenneth Byrne to goal from the free. Brian Cunningham pointed two frees and Kenneth Byrne added another. Tramore pointed in the 19th minute to make it 1-9 to 0-9. Kenneth Byrne pointed another free and then Brian Cunningham goaled after Eoin Casey (back in the club colours after a stint in Boston) dropped in a high ball which was not dealt with properly. Points followed from Kenneth Byrne, Eddie Meaney, Colm Morris and Brian Cunningham before Brian finished the scoring with his second goal created by Lee Hayes.
Scorers: Brian Cunningham 2-6 (0-4 frees), Kenneth Byrne 1-3 (frees), Colm Morris and Jamie Sage 0-2 each, Eddie Meaney 0-1.
Panel: Kyle Sinnott, Martin Sheehan, David Sutton, Adam Doyle, Eoin Casey, Kenneth Byrne, Christopher Sheehan, Conor O’Toole, Conan Watt, Colm Morris, Thomas Kearney, Eddie Meaney, Brian Cunningham, Patrick Flynn, Jamie Sage, Lee Hayes, Conor Bohane, Barry Twomey, Michael Roche, Evan Whelan, Jeff Cahill.

East U-14 Football Final – De La Salle 7-4 Tramore 1-5

We won our first title of the year when our U-14 footballers won the eastern final at a windy Walsh Park on Saturday last. This was not as a one sided contest as the scoreline would suggest. We played against the strong wind in the first half and opened with an early goal but Tramore replied with a goal of their own. Both sides exchanged a number of points before a couple of De La Salle goals saw us lead 3-3 to 1-4 at half time. We played with the strong wind in the second half but Tramore worked very hard and continued to play good football. Eventually our pressure paid off and we outscored our opponents 4-1 to 0-1 to secure victory against a gallant Tramore side. Captain Dylan Finn accepted the trophy on behalf of the side.
