  1. County U-21 Hurling Championship Final –\u00a0De La Salle 3-13 St. Carthages\u00a01-4<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    An outstanding performance by\u00a0our U-21 hurlers saw them crowned county\u00a0champions for the second time when we had a\u00a0comprehensive victory over\u00a0St. Carthages in Walsh Park last Sunday. Led by\u00a0the outstanding\u00a0Tom Moran\u00a0in midfield we controlled this game from start to finish with our backs in total control, conceding only 1-1 from play,\u00a0and our forwards working extremely hard throughout. In fairness to St. Carthages it has to be said that their preparations probably weren’t what they would have liked but on the day our lads were excellent.<\/p>\n

    Playing against the wind we started with two points from\u00a0Shane Ryan and the excellent Patrick Flynn. Further points from Shane and Adam Farrell had us ahead 0-4 to 0-2 after ten minutes. A point from a ’65 from\u00a0Shane Ryan after the goalkeeper had saved brilliantly from Jamie Sage was followed by Jamie Sage goaling with his next chance to give us a six point lead midway through the half. St. Carthages replied with a point and after we missed another goal chance they swept down the field to find the net and the gap was down to two. An exchange of points involving Adam Farrell followed before we finished the half with points from Tom Moran, Robert Daniels and Shane Ryan to lead 1-9 to 1-4 at half time.<\/p>\n

    Any chance of a St. Carthages comeback ended early in the second half when Jake Dillon (2), Jamie Sage and Shane Ryan all pointed in the first five minutes. This was followed in the sixth minute with Robert Daniels collecting Jack McCarthy’s long delivery before rounding the goalkeeper to shoot to the empty net to make it 2-13 to 1-4. Amazingly as the pitch cut up there was only one further score in the game when Dylan Foley took a pass from Jamie Sage and buried the ball in the bottom corner to seal the win.<\/p>\n

    There was great delight after the game as county chairman Tom Cunningham presented the cup to\u00a0team captain\u00a0Jake Dillon.<\/p>\n

    Congratulations to Jamie Sage who was named the official man of the match<\/p>\n

    1. Annual General Meeting<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      The AGM took place last Friday in Gracedieu\u00a0and it was no change at the top table as all the officers who had just completed their first year were re-elected unopposed.\u00a0The intermediate footballers and the minor hurlers\u00a0were\u00a0congratulated on bringing county titles to the club this year and the U-21\u00a0hurlers on regaining the\u00a0eastern title and the Liam O’Donnell memorial cup. The hope was expressed that we would add the county title on the Sunday.<\/p>\n

      At under age we won\u00a0eastern titles in U-15 and U-14 hurling\u00a0as well as eastern titles in U-14 and U-13 football.\u00a0 The further development of our facilities at Gracedieu was also discussed with the hurling wall currently under construction.<\/p>\n

      In his first address as chairman Owen Dunphy spoke about the the trophies won and the continuing need to develop. He referred to the three year development plan currently being prepared and he stressed the need to remain financially viable. He requested everyone to continue to support any fundraisers held as well as the Deise Draw, Lotto, the Gracedieu scheme and to pay their membership to ensure we can pay our way.<\/p>\n

      He paid tribute\u00a0to Derek McGrath who had stepped down as senior hurling manager on his appointment as county manager and he\u00a0wished him well in his new position. He also congratulaterd the Waterford minor hurlers on their\u00a0All Ireland success and in particular our three\u00a0players involved Adam Farrell, Shane Ryan and Jack McCarthy.\u00a0He thanked our club players and mentors for their\u00a0efforts this year. He thanked\u00a0his fellow officers for their work and assistance during\u00a0the year and\u00a0wished everyone well for\u00a02014.<\/p>\n

      The following officers were elected, President Br. Killian, Chairman: Owen Dunphy, Vice-Chairman Alan Duke, Secretary: Olivia Russell, Treasurer: Tom O’Leary, P.R.O: John Sheehan, Insurance Officer: James ‘Danno’ O’Shea,\u00a0 Field Committee: Billy O’Neill, Players Representative: Thomas Kearney, County Board Delegate: Seamus Quirke, East Board Delegate Billy O\u2018Neill, Juvenile Chairman: Paudie Brosnan, Childrens Welfare Officer: Brendan Lawton. Some positions such as the Games Administration Committee chairman, social committee chairman\u00a0and the Irish Officer remain to be filled on the incoming executive committee.
      \nAlso the following team managers were appointed for next year: Senior Hurling: Allen Dillon, Intermediate Hurling: Tom O’Leary, Junior Hurling: Philip Burke, U-21 Hurling: Bryan Phelan, Minor\u00a0Hurling: Owen Dunphy.<\/p>\n

      Senior Football: Seamus Quirke, Junior Football: John Sheehan, U-21 football: Eddie Cooney, Minor Football: Ricky Grogan.<\/p>\n

      1. \u00a0Condolences<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        We extend our sympathy to\u00a0the McNulty\u00a0family on the death of Shane’s grandmother Philomena McNulty in Strabane, County Tyrone on Sunday morning. Ar dheis D\u00e9 go raibh s\u00ed.<\/p>\n

        Great credit is due to Shane who\u00a0lined out in the U-21 final a few hours later and played a vital role in curbing one of our opponents star players.<\/p>\n

          There was no winner of the new Lotto jackpot last Monday and it now stands at \u20ac1,250. The\u00a0final draw before Christmas will take place on this Thursday\u00a019th December.\u00a0Numbers drawn were 6, 10, 15, 21. There were eight winners of \u20ac25 each
