East U-14 Division 2 Football Final
De La Salle 5-4 Clan na Gael 2-3
We won our first trophy of the year when our U-14 footballers won the Division 2 eastern championship defeating Clan na Gael in Walsh park on Saturday last. The wet and windy conditions were a factor in the match and we had the wind in the first half. Clan na Gael played very well against the wind and midway through the half lead by 1-0 to 0-1, our point coming from the excellent Evan Hayes. We improved dramatically after that and scored 3-2 in the next ten minutes, the three goals coming from Alex Keane and both points from Conor O’Shea, to lead 3-3 to 1-2 at the break.
The second half was always going to be difficult against the wind and so it proved early on. Our opponents pressed but for poor shooting would have narrowed our lead. They only had a point to show for their endeavours and when Dylan Stickel goaled for us it made their task more difficult. We continued to play well and even when our opponents goaled we replied with a goal from Josh Kelly and a point from Sultan Andnekan to run out deserving winners.
Afterwards captain Daire O’Keefe accepted the trophy on behalf of the team

John J. Murphy East Junior B Hurling Championship
De La Salle 2-20 Passage 0-8
Our junior B hurlers remain unbeaten after they had a comfortable win over Passage in Gracedieu last Thursday. We took control of this game midway through the first half against a Passage side not helped by injuries to two players in this half and we continued to dominate throughout the second half. It was good to see the younger players progress with Eoin Treacy in particular on his first start having a fine game.
The first eleven minutes were even enough with both sides scoring two points each, ours coming from the excellent Conor Dunphy and Jamie Sage. Further points followed from Conor Dunphy (2), Eamonn Fitzgerald (2), Luke Lawlor (2), Ciaran Corrigan and Barry Twomey before Passage pointed before the break to make 0-10 to 0-3. Passage opened the second half scoring but Conor Dunphy and Eamonn Fitzgerald replied by the fifth minute. We got our first goal in the 10th minute when Alan Fitzgerald, Ciaran Corrigan and Christopher Sheehan combined for Barry Twomey to crash the ball to the net. Ciaran Corrigan, Jamie Sage and Eamonn Fitzgerald (2) added further points. Passage replied with two points to make it 1-16 to 0-6 after nineteen minutes. Christopher Sheehan (2) and Tom Wiltshire added to our points tally before Philip Burke and Christopher Sheehan worked the opening for Eamonn Fitzgerald to finish low to the net in the 26th minute. Eamonn followed up with a point which was our last score before a battling Passage side got the last two points of the game.
Scorers: Eamonn Fitzgerald 1-6 (0-4 frees, 0-1 ‘65) Conor Dnphy 0-4, Barry Twomey 1-1, Jamie Sage, Ciaran Corrigan, Luke Lawlor and Christopher Sheehan 0-2 each, Tom Wiltshire 0-1.

County Senior Hurling League
Roanmore 1-11 De La Salle 0-9
Our understrength senior hurlers went down to Roanmore when a goal three minutes into injury time finally decided this game played in Roanmore last Saturday evening. Despite missing many senior players through county commitments and injuries we led by a point at half time before Roanmore opened up a four point lead in the second half. We narrowed the gap to two points before that late goal settled it.
Scorers: Brian Cunningham 0-4 (0-2 frees) Adam Farrell 0-3, Thomas Kearney and Eddie Barrett 0-1 each.

John J. Murphy East Junior B Hurling Championship
De La Salle 2-9 Kilmacthomas 1-11
Our junior B hurlers got their campaign off to a winning start when they beat Kilmacthomas in Kilmacthomas last Friday. Both teams were evenly matched throughout in a game played in incessant rain but on a night when we introduced a few minors to adult hurling for the first time it took stand out performances from Jamie Sage and David Sutton to make the difference.
On a night when note taking was difficult both sides sent over five points in the first half with ours coming from Jamie Sage (3) and Eamonn Fitzgerald (2) but the vital scores came in the 25th and 26th minutes when first Jamie Sage and then Sean Power got inside their markers and goaled to leave us ahead 2-5 to 0-5 at the interval. The third quarter was much of the same with both sides adding three points with Ciaran Corrigan, Jamie Sage and Barry Twomey on target for us. Kilmacthomas then got a grip and pointed three frees before a 23rd minute goal made it all square. The decisive score came in the 27th minute when Barry Twomey pointed a sixty five to claim the victory.
Scorers: Jamie Sage 1-4, Sean Power 1-0, Eamonn Fitzgerald (frees) and Barry Twomey (0-1 free, 0-1 ‘65) 0-2 each, Ciaran Corrigan 0-1
Panel: Conor Bohane (captain), Tom Crotty, Darragh Fitzpatrick, David Sutton, Mark Joy Kinsella, Alan Fitzgerald, Thomas Kenny, Conor Dunphy, Luke Flynn, Lee Hayes, Eamonn Fitzgerald, Barry Twomey, Ciaran Corrigan, Jamie Sage, Sean Power, Tom Wiltshire, Christopher Sheehan, Eoin Treacy, Luke Lawlor, Keith Cooney, Philip Burke, Diarmuid Carey, Jack O’Donohoe, Peter O’Hagan, Niall O’Sullivan.
